Dramatic
play -
children play different roles, professions, pretend to be someone or
something different from themselves, and dramatize situations and actions. Children usually choose important roles in the society – teacher,
doctor, chef. That play encourages their imagination, makes them make
decisions, increases their self – confidence. Firstly children imitate parents,
elder brothers and sisters, but then they master their own attitude, behaviors. Progress in developing independent
thinking is obvious in 2-3 weeks. Observing children’s pretend play is a key for determining problems
in the family, kindergarten, within friends. These problems are invisible for
us as parents, because children do not have the habits to share, but they could
expand into serious behavior problems like hyperactive play.
Other benefits from that make – believe play
are enriching the vocabulary of the children by playing with them, showing them
everyday activities in professional life of a chef for example. Dramatic play promotes speaking
and listening – the child should train his patience to
listen, so he could react adequately in the situation.
